FAQs

Q. Do I sell custom crochet work?

A. I don’t! I have a hard time keeping up with all the projects I want to make for Sookie and Ivy, and as a one woman show, it isn’t possible for me to sell finished work. I also have chronic pain issues and sometimes go months without making a single project.

Q. Do I sell any of Sookie and Ivy’s finished hats?

A. I don’t! I reuse their hats and am in no rush to get rid of any of them. I may eventually auction some of them off.

Q. Do I sell patterns?

A. Unfortunately I only have a few patterns available on Etsy! I freehand all their hats and have had trouble finding time to write down all the patterns. My main holdup is that I need to make them in multiple sizes so they’re inclusive for all dogs. I’m hoping to figure out an easier way to get them done but it’s overwhelming!

Q. How do I store them?

A. The majority of their hats are stored in large fabric bags. The more delicate ones are in a drawer!

Q. How long does each hat take to make?

A. The easier ones (like peas, watermelon and green beans) take around an hour to two each. The more tedious ones (like broccoli and dragonfruit) take up to 6-8 hours each (rough estimate – I make them in parts and don’t really track time). I’d guess on average, most take around 2-3 hours!

Q. How do you find the time to do this?

A. I’m a full time content creator so I have all the time in the world to craft! When my pain is managed, I try making 1 hat set per week. This usually equates to only 1-2 nights of crocheting while catching up on shows. I have made all these hats over several years so the number of sets has added up!

Q. Do Sookie and Ivy hate the hats?

A. Nope! Whenever they wear hats, they get rewarded with treats and praise. They only wear them during videos and for no more than a few minutes at a time. They’re comfortable and they can easily remove them themselves!

Q. Why?

A. Why not! Crocheting is a stress reliever for me and I enjoy creating video content. My hobby may not make sense to everyone, but the hats bring people joy and that’s something I take pride in!
